OFD History Documentary

     This 30 minute documentary was Written, Produced & Directed in 1988 by John Taylor as a student of Television Production at Odessa College. Instructor Tom Barnett. At the time John Taylor was a Firefighter/Paramedic and an Arson Investigator with the Odessa Fire Department. The Narration is performed by Firefighter/Paramedic Gary Vaughn. 

     We were very fortunate to be able to get live interviews with J.H. Price who was one of the 7 first volunteer Odessa Firefighters in 1927. Also interviewed in this video are two of the first four paid firefighters in 1939, Chester Frady & Chunky Hendrick. Two other Volunteer Firefighters from the 1930's R.G. Dixon & Zada Anderson join J.H. Price, Chester Frady & Chunky Hendrick in a lively conversation of the old Odessa Firefighting Glory Days.

     Odessa College Professor Tom Barnett entered this documentary into the1988 Rocky Mountain Collegiate Press Association "Documentary" Competition at Northern Arizona University and it won 1st Place.
